Just how much of a difference is AdsMallorca making??

No matter what sort of business you are in the competition is always strong. So how do you know you are making a difference in the ‘niche’ you are in?  The answer lies in what is happening around you.  Having started this new online advertising venue only three months ago offering a very cheap option to businesses based on Mallorca or advertising to the people of Mallorca, I am noticing tremendous changes around me.  What was once a very, and I mean very, expensive way of advertising has suddenly become much cheaper, I now have real competition!!

As I have achieved page one on over 100 ads on google, often coming up higher on the page than the well established advertising venues on the island things have started to change.  They have begun to alter their offers to businesses on the islands and many are now in direct competition with Ads Mallorca.

Concentrating, as I have, on building a website for the people of Mallorca, where they can find information necessary about Mallorca, helpful ideas, what you can do in Mallorca, etc. I would like to encourage the english speaking residents of Mallorca to use this site more and more.  As my traffic increases so will my appeal to the businesses in Mallorca.  I realise that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ and that this site will take time to build up.

Having said that it is really nice to be looked upon as competition at such an early stage – hopefully a few more businesses on the island will recognise this and take advantage of our advertising offer which remains consistent and very cheap and the fact that we are a business to be reckoned with.

Advertising in Mallorca is something AdsMallorca is very good at, and we are up there with the best on page 1 of google so remember AdsMallorca is more than just another business directory.

Lots of things just slipping into place this week, totally unexpected but really for the better.  You know when you have something that is not quite right and you are not totally sure how to change it without messing it all up?  Yes I was there this week.  I had AdsMallorca thriving on Google and increasing every day with visits, unbelievable hits and yet something was not quite what I wanted – it was too, for want of a better word, playful, not serious enough.

Several months ago I had found the perfect template for AdsMallorca, but unfortunately it did not have all of the settings that I would have liked for the advertising possibilities of our clients so I had been dithering about setting it up, testing it on other sites and really not getting any further with it on AdsMallorca.  Then disaster!  Luckily I had put a warning up on the forum that I was going to be updating software and that there might be difficulties accessing the site.  Little did I realise at the time the problems that were going to appear before me!

Once again I was toying with the idea of this new template which would enable me to add photos of Mallorca in the header advertising how beautiful it is but I was still undecided.  So I was trying it out on another test and without even thinking copied files over from AdsMallorca only to find my totally set up advertising site for Mallorca was suddenly there using a basic template and looking awful.

I closed the site down for ‘improvement’.  I could not believe it – I felt as if I had been put into the position of having to set up this new template – of course I could have just backed everything up and it would have remained as it was.

Just under two hours later I had a fully functioning AdsMallorca – the advertising website for Mallorca – without the advertising banners but everything else working beautifully.  The next day I improvised with resizing and repositioning all of the banner advertising so that it fitted in with this template and I have to say I am much happier with the whole look of the site.

I would love to hear any comments you may have regarding how the site looks now and if you know anyone who lives in Mallorca and has a business let them know that our special offer of three months free advertising ends tomorrow.  We are a community site with information on Mallorca, free ads for Mallorca residents and visitors along with a business directory for businesses here or catering for the english speaking population of Mallorca.

Website Offline, Yet Again – Web Hosting Problems! My Apologies to all.

Patience with incompetency is not something I have and today I have once again come up against it.   Having said that I must have angels watching over me as I did warn my viewers that there may be a time during today that my website AdsMallorca would be down.

I was in fact aiming to do some work with updating some of the software only to find that our server’s inefficiency in renewing our domain name has led to it being off line for 3 – 6 hours. A very long time for a business starting to get established and with special offers ending in only a few days.

The lesson learned – When you have to rely on others, seek out companies that have a reputation to look after and use them for the services that you need.   Check out the reviews of companies out there that are competing for your web hosting and make sure that you do not have to go through the problems that we are experiencing at the moment.

It certainly looks like I will not only be updating the site but also the server in a very short while.  This is not the first time this has happened and until now I have let it go but if we, as a small company, want to succeed we too must be there for our clients and users at all times.  This is not possible if our server is unreliable and this reflects very badly on us.

I apologise to those people who tried to get online to AdsMallorca today and hope that they will return and try again.

I will give ample warning to all when we change servers, but I have the feeling with the hosting company that I have selected that there will be no problem and all will go very smoothly.

This will give me peace of mind and enable me to spend my time more productively gathering information etc. for the website.

Thanks again to all people who do support us – through thick and thin.  AdsMallorca is more than just another business directory it is a site for the residents of Mallorca and all people who wish to visit our wonderful island.

With a new and reliable server it will enable us to start taking on some web hosting in Mallorca and offer websites so perhaps it is a blessing in disquise, this problem – we will see!
